Why does the authorities climb to the citizens under the blanket?

A scandal with a homophobic law adopted in the first reading by the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg * * The bill provides for the introduction of administrative responsibility and punishment of fines for "public actions aimed at propaganda of pedophilia, sodist, lesbianism, bisexualism, transgenderness among minors." He safely got out of the northern capital and acquired an international character. What is not surprising, since the attitude to sexual minorities in the world is considered as an indicator of tolerance, civilization and legal enlightenment of society and the state.
The way the human community solved severe problems at different times, served as a litmus piece of paper of humanity and tolerance. For example, mentally ill could be burned on fires as obsessed with the devil (later the Krandzhevoye, Western Europe) or allowed to live in monasteries as holy fools (the same times, Russia). A person could be property (serfdom in Russia and slavery in the USA, XIX century) or a free citizen (the same times, Western Europe).
Now this indicator is the attitude to minorities in general and to sex minorities in particular.
Offensive
The general vector of the development of human society is the expansion of the boundaries of tolerance and freedom. Russia, as always, has a special way. Freed from the communist badge and other Soviet rubbish, the country in the 90s swallowed freedom and recognized sex with the personal business of everyone. A barbaric article on liability for non -traditional sexual orientation * * Article 121, part 1 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR, was given from the legislation, was punished by deprivation of liberty for a term of 3 to 5 years, was canceled in 1993, and it would seem that it intended to become a normal European country.
Everything has changed abruptly with the coming to the power of the Chekist leadership. The course changed to the opposite. All over the world, Russia is still, oddly enough, it is considered a democratic country, despite the fact that we have not fulfilled a significant part of the promises given when joining the Council of Europe (for example, we did not exclude the death penalty from the Criminal Code).
Since Europe is tolerant of our special path, supporters of Soviet restoration are trying to revive former laws, rules and customs. The offensive on the value of freedom and democracy goes on all fronts - from the destruction of parliamentarism and the revival of censorship to the return of the Stalinist anthem and homophobic laws. Petersburg, where the law is already conceptually approved by lawmakers, and repeatedly prohibited the implementation of gay parades Moscow, where a similar law is only preparing, by no means the first in the list of distinguished ones. Such local laws are already in the Arkhangelsk and Ryazan regions. Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko and Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak advocate for the same law, but already federal.
Why not? After all, it was so before! They call this a return to the origins, but of all the origins of the Russian culture and the rules of the hostel they choose the most muddy, the most naked and unbearable. In fact, their homophobia for the most part is false, and they do not care about non -traditional orientation. Their goal is to find a moral justification in order to throw a depth on society, to drive him into a stall in which it was decades of Soviet life. They consider the pursuit of sex minorities a convenient occasion, a successful beginning, because in our sad country, most never stands up for the minority. Most do not want to understand that society can be divided by many signs, and each of this prosperous and smug majority on one unfortunate day can become a minority.

In a bad society
Those who share and rule well understand what they are doing. They are not embarrassed by which company Russia will fall into. They do not recall National Socialist Germany, in which many thousands of homosexuals were interned into concentration camps and died there. According to the laws of the Third Reich homosexuals, they were punished in imprisonment even for touching or views, and the accusation of homosexuality could be obtained without any evidence, simply on suspicion or denunciation of the informant.
Both Soviet propagandists and the current Russian apologists of sovereign democracy are embarrassed and indignant when they are indicated by their resemblance to the Nazis. Well, you can move from history to modernity. Today, homosexuality is persecuted in about 80 countries. In 8 of them, the death penalty is laid for this - in Saudi Arabia, Iran, Nigeria, Mauritania, Afghanistan, Yemen, Sudan and Somalia. There is not a single democratic country, not a single country in Europe or North America, where there would be responsibility for homosexuality or its propaganda.
Legislators from United Russia draw our country into a club of barbaric, despotic regimes with authoritarian power, traditions of religious fundamentalism and legalized obscurantism. Of course, so far they only talk about the protection of children from detrimental influence, about the protection of health and public morality, and moral values. They play noble indignation when they are accused of discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation.
That they guard
With St. Petersburg Homonavian initiatives, an international scandal happened. “This bill is an obvious attack on freedom of expression and a poorly veiled attempt to silence the Russian LGBT community,” says Hugh Williamson, director of Human Rights Watch in Europe and Central Asia. “An attempt to conduct this bill in St. Petersburg ... is a key precedent for those who want to legalize discrimination ... throughout the country.”
The US State Department expressed its deep concern about this. In response to the claims of the State Department, the Commissioner of the Russian Foreign Ministry for Human Rights Konstantin Dolgov told Interfax on November 29 that there was absolutely no discrimination here, but there is protection of minors from “appropriate propaganda”, taking into account traditional cultural and moral values. As happens with the most cynical politicians, military and bandits, they put forward children, whose interests they are allegedly most concerned about. This is how the initiatives of the legislative restriction of freedom of speech on the Internet, on television, and in the print press were justified.
The homophobic laws adopted now clearly contradict the Constitution of Russia, the European Convention on Human Rights and many other international laws and declarations. If laws are nevertheless finally adopted, then they are inevitably protected in the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. The case, however, is not in the legal incident, but in where the secret and open ill -wishers are trying to push Russia. They see in Russia not a country for life in it happy people, but their own patrimony, in which you can always steal and impunity, dictate your will and issue laws under their benefits and their interests.
