In Penza, a verdict was handed down in the case of a series of explosions and arson

On December 22, 2011, the Penza Regional Court issued a verdict in the case of a series of hate crimes, including explosions and arson .

In the dock was Ilya Petrov (“Schizophrenic”), born in 1992, who was a minor at the time of the commission of the incriminated crimes.

The young man was charged with illegal acquisition and storage of weapons and explosives (Part 1 of Article 222 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), attempted destruction of someone else's property (Part 3 of Article 30 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and Part 2 of Article 167 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), illegal manufacture of weapons (Part 1 of Article 223 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), incitement of national, religious and ideological hatred (Part 1 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), encroachment on the life of a law enforcement officer (Article 317 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), use of violence against a government official ( Part 1 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and vandalism motivated by hatred (Part 2 of Article 214 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The court found the young man guilty and sentenced him to 7 years and 7 months in a general regime colony. In addition, the court ordered I. Petrov to compensate for the material damage caused.

Let us recall that it was previously reported that I. Petrov had an accomplice - Alexander Loskutov, who, together with him , set fire to the building of the Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh, threw 3 Molotov cocktails at the window of the Spasskaya Chapel, and also took part in the arson of the chapel located in the park named after . Lermontov.

However, the report on the sentencing does not mention these episodes, and nothing is said about A. Loskutov himself. Unfortunately, we do not know what this is connected with. Perhaps the case of the arson of churches has been separated into a separate proceeding, or the charges of involvement in it have been dropped against the young people.
