Data on the number of participants in Christmas services on the night of January 6-7, 2012 has been published. In total, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 2.1 million Russians attended night services.
According to the Moscow City Internal Affairs Directorate, about 120 thousand people visited 282 Moscow churches where Christmas services were held.
In the Orenburg region, 118 Orthodox churches were visited by about 30 thousand people.
In St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, about 250 thousand people took part in Christmas services - more than 200 thousand in St. Petersburg and 45 thousand in the region.
In the Ryazan region, on the night of January 7, about 27 thousand people attended services in 278 churches and 12 monasteries.
