In the Sverdlovsk region, a Buddhist monastery and a mining and processing plant are arguing over a land plot

On January 18, 2012, it became known that the Buddhist monastery Shadtchupling in Kachkanar fears that nearby EVRAZ Kachkanar Mining and Processing Plant (KGOK) is dismantling buildings monastery. The leader of the Kachkanar Buddhists Alexander Berezin addressed with an open letter to D. Medvedev and V. Putin.

The letter states that since 2001 the monastery has been trying to register the land and buildings, but met opposition from side of the KGOK administration. The site requested by the monastery was handed over to the plant under license until 2026. At the same time, deposits on the territory occupied the site was not found by the monastery.

In 2011, representatives of the plant appealed to the prosecutor's office with a statement about the illegality of the presence of the monastery on this site.

“Despite the fact that under the cult complex of the deposit no, the territory of the mining allotment received by EVRAZ KGOK covers the area unjustifiably larger than the area of the deposit. This area captures stupas, and the rock “Camel” located 300 meters from it <...> And no one takes into account that the Shadtchupling monastery appeared 12 years earlier than EVRAZ received a mining allotment,” the Buddhists are quoted as saying, “Vecherniye statements" .

According to the publication, the construction of the monastery in 1995 was started without the consent of the authorities.

January 23, 2012, commenting on the appeal of Buddhists, the press service EVRAZ KGOK emphasized that the plant has the right to work on the disputed site, and the monastery did not have a building permit. Joint check of the prosecutor's office of Kachkanarsky urban district and the Department of Forestry of the Sverdlovsk Region identified the fact of violation of the forest legislation by the monastery.
