“Today I call all of you to this vigilance,” he said in his sermon. - Be able to distinguish between spirits, remember that the loudest cry, the most piercing word is not always correct, faithful and honest. This is how our people have been tempted twice , and perhaps more, over the past hundred or so years .”

“Orthodox people,” the patriarch assured his flock, “do not know how to go out on demonstrations - they stand at the Belt of the Most Holy Theotokos, and if the belt had been here not for a month, but for six months, then not three million, but forty or fifty million would have stood in this queues. We know this for sure, because we live in a majority Orthodox country. These people do not go out to demonstrations, their voices are not heard, they pray in the silence of monasteries, in cells, in homes, but they experience with all their hearts what is happening to our people today, drawing in their minds clear historical parallels with the dissipation and unconsciousness of the pre-revolutionary years, with confusion, vacillation, destruction of the country in the 90s ."
