The Krasnoyarsk Regional Court confirmed that classes in Sunday schools are not educational activities

On February 8, 2012, the Krasnoyarsk Regional Court overturned the decision of the Central District Court of Krasnoyarsk, which on June 16, 2011 recognized the activities of the Sunday school at the Cathedral Mosque of the city as illegal and imposed a fine of 170 thousand rubles on the Muslim community for conducting educational activities without a license.

It should be reminded that in June 2011 the members of the community, who disagreed with the court's decision, filed a cassation appeal against the court's decision. Complaints were also sent to Mark Denisov, Commissioner for Human Rights in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, and Vladimir Lukin, Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia. On January 24, 2012, Vladimir Lukin sent a petition to the Krasnoyarsk Regional Court with a request to cancel the court decisions due to the lack of corpus delicti.

Having considered the materials of the case, the court "considered the circumstances on the basis of which the court decisions were made, not proven."   Sources
