Court in the case of posting a xenophobic article in Blagoveshchensk

On February 26, 2012, the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Amur Region announced that a trial was underway under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (incitement of hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity) against Alexander Kornaushenko, a resident of Blagoveshchensk.

According to the materials of the investigation, employees of the Center "E" and department "K" of the Internal Affairs Directorate for the Amur Region uncovered an article in which a sociological, political science and linguo-stylistic forensic examination found "inciting social and ethnic hatred." The text was included in the federal list of extremist materials.

The CPE operatives, together with the Russian Federal Security Service for the Amur Region, established that the article was posted on the site by Kornaushenko. Initially, specialists from the regional FSB took up the investigation of the case. Subsequently, the criminal case was transferred to the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Amur Region.

Kornaushenko cooperated with the investigation, wrote a confession and repented of his deed.

Recall that in June 2011, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Amur Region announced the completion of the investigation of the criminal case under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation in relation to a 34-year-old resident of the city of Blagoveshchensk, who posted a xenophobic article on his website on December 28, 2009. It is not entirely clear whether we are talking about the same case or different ones.
