On February 28, 2012, it became known that the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the European Part of Russia (Moscow Muftiate, DUMER) filed a lawsuit with the Ostankino District Court of Moscow against the Moscow Muftiate (as part of the Central Spiritual Administration of Muslims).
The plaintiff demands to recover from the defendant moral damages in the amount of 1 million rubles for appropriating “a significant part of the name” - the phrase “Moscow Muftiate” is present in the names of both organizations.
Previously, DUMERfiled a similar claim with the Moscow Arbitration Court, but in November 2011, the proceedings in the case were terminated as not subject to consideration in the arbitration court.
