The far-right left the protest

On March 10, 2012, in Moscow on Novy Arbat, the far-right gathered at the opposition rally “For Fair Elections.” This time, none of the nationalists were given a chance to speak at the rally. Among the gathered nationalists in the crowd were the leaders of the “Russians” association Dmitry Demushkin, Georgy Borovikov, Vladimir Ermolaev. Blogger Alexei Navalny was also in the crowd.

During the rally, a column (about 200-300 people) under “imperial” flags left the event, chanting “Russians forward,” “E... Caucasus,” “Glory to Russia.” A certain group with Orthodox icons followed. Several dozen people remained at the scene, including in Cossack uniforms, under imperial flags.

According to one of the leaders, the reason for leaving was that “the nationalists are not at all interested in who it is. What do we have, usurpation of liberals? I hear about this Khodorkovsky and I hear about some Kozlov. Do you know how many nationalists there are in Russia now? Why do we go there? To listen to them alone? Some people there usurped the stage, paid for it and are standing there, one by one, telling us the same thing.”

The group turned onto Old Arbat, where they marched in a procession, lighting fireworks, raising their arms in a Nazi salute and shouting nationalist, anti-Caucasian and obscene slogans. The riot police did not interfere with what was happening. (According to other sources, 10 people were detained on Old Arbat.)

Next, the nationalists went down to the metro and got off at the Kievskaya station. In the area of ​​the Kievsky railway station near the Evropeisky shopping center, according to various estimates, from 25 to 40 nationalists were detained. After administrative protocols were drawn up, they were all released.
