Rector of Islamic University demands compensation for moral damages from DUMER

March 13, 2012 Interfax reported that Marat Murtazin applied to the Meshchansky District Moscow court with a lawsuit against the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the European part Russia (DUMER).

Reason for appeal to the court served as an article published on the DUMER website on March 1, 2012 year, which states that "the rector Moscow Islamic University Marat Murtazin was removed from his post in connection with the loss of confidence and the appointment of an independent audit of the financial and economic activities of the university.

In a statement by M. Murazin said that the information published on the site “is unreliable and discredit his honor, dignity and business reputation. He demands to recover from the defendant compensation for the moral damage in the amount of 1 million rubles.

March 2, 2012 on the website of the Islamic University (MIU) appeared refutation of information about the removal of the rector. "Marat Murtazin was elected rector of the Moscow Islamic University by the delegates Conferences in April 2011 for a period of 5 years and continues to work in his position in accordance with The Charter and the legislation of the Russian Federation" - stated in the text of the rebuttal.

March 20, 2012 Ravil Gainutdin, Chairman DUMER, signed an order to terminate the employment contract with the rector of MIU Marat Murtazin.
