March 12, 2012 Nikita Tikhonov and Evgenia Khasis, convicted of murder lawyer Stanislav Markelov and journalist Anastasia Baburova, appealed verdict in the European Court of Human Rights.
"Today we sent a complaint to the European Court of Human Rights from named after Nikita Tikhonov and Evgenia Khasis, in which we ask you to recognize the violation in course of trials in Russia, Articles 3 and 6 of the European Convention on the Rights human being - "the right to be treated with dignity", "the right to a fair trial ," the lawyer said.
E. Khasis in her complaint also insists on payment of compensation in the amount of 1 million euros, and Tikhonov announced the infliction of moral damage in the amount of 50 thousand euros.
Recall that the Moscow City Court on the basis of the guilty verdict of the jury sentenced Tikhonov to life imprisonment, and Khasis sentenced in the form of 18 years of imprisonment.
