On March 19, 2012, it became known that a criminal case had been opened under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (incitement of hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity) against a resident of the city of Murmansk (born in 1991).
As established during the pre-investigation check, the suspect called on passers-by on Schmidt Street to take hostile actions against the Chechens.
The decision to initiate a criminal case by the supervising prosecutor was recognized as lawful and justified. The prosecutor's office of the Oktyabrsky district of the city of Murmansk took control of the investigation of the case.
In total, since the beginning of 2012, three criminal cases on inciting hatred have been initiated in the Murmansk region.
