On March 18, 2012, in Moscow, a banana was thrown at Anzhi Makhachkala player Christopher Samba from the VIP stand after the Russian Championship match with Lokomotiv.
A banana was thrown from a crowd of fans as Samba, along with other players, left the field. The player picked up the banana that hit him and threw it back into the crowd.
The incident received publicity some time after the game, when a fan called the Sport radio station and told about the incident.
The representative of the Makhachkala club called the actions of the football player an adequate response.
“We are deeply disappointed by the idiotic episode with our footballer Christopher Samba, which occurred after the end of the Lokomotiv match - "Anji". We are sure that the representatives of the football authorities and the service security of Lokomotiv will deal with this situation, and the culprit will identified and punished,” the Anji fan club reports.
Samba was not the first Anji player to suffer from such actions of the fans. June 22 in Samara at the end of the match "Wings of the Soviets" - "Anji" from the stands threw a banana at Roberto Carlos.
