Third Pussy Riot member arrested

On March 16, 2012, the Tagansky District Court of Moscow authorized the arrest of Ekaterina Samutsevich, the third of the alleged participants in the action of the punk band Pussy Riot in Cathedral of Christ the Savior. Ekaterina Samutsevich revealed her real name and presented passport only in court, and previously represented by Irina Loktina (girl explained this by the fact that she had reason to fear for her life, since the members of the group and their relatives receive threats). She is arrested for charged with a crime under Part. 2 Article. 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (hooliganism, committed by a group of persons by prior agreement) until April 24. Petition defense on the release of Samutsevich on bail of 200 thousand rubles or the election for her any other measure of restraint was rejected. The court agreed with the opinion of the investigation and prosecutor's office that Samutsevich, if released, could hide. Advocate Samutsevich Violetta Volkova intends to appeal the decision to arrest her client in the Moscow City Court and file a complaint with the European Court of Human Rights.

Recall that we do not consider lawful initiation against the participants punk band cases under Part 2 of Art. 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
