A prayer service was served in Moscow in defense of the “good name of the Church”

April 22, 2012 near the walls of the Moscow Cathedral of Christ the Savior, a divine service was performed "in defense of the faith, desecrated shrines, Church and her good name.

The prayer service was led by Patriarch Kirill. The believers were shown shrines, victims of vandals: a cross from the Cathedral of Nevinnomyssk (Stavropol Territory) and icons from Veliky Ustyug (Vologda Region), one of which was shot through by bullets in the early 1920s.

According to the Moscow police department, more than 65 thousand people from Moscow gathered near the HHS, Moscow region and other regions of Russia.

Similar prayers were held on the same day all the cathedrals of the Russian Orthodox Church on territory of Russia.

Journalists of the first channel commented on the “main event of the week”: “The Russian Church decided respond to those insinuations that sound in her address.

Recall that in many ways the prayer service near the walls of the XXC was a response to the punk action of the group "Pussy Riot" and the pickets in defense of the group's members that took place in Moscow and other cities of Russia.
