Orthodox Christians "in defense of the constitution and against obscurantism"

At the beginning of May 2012, the public movement “Russia for All” published an invitation to “prayer in defense of the constitution, against ignorance and obscurantism.”

The text of the invitation says: “ The banner of resistance to the impending barbarism was the feat of three young women who, in 45 seconds of their stay on the pulpit, were able to do what we could not do at the rallies - they opened the eyes of millions who fell asleep to a lullaby about spirituality, and brought in the enemies of the constitution into a state of rage ."

“ We do not want a return to the feudal system, new serfdom and criminal-patriarchal authorities ,” write the authors of the text. “We turn to the saints, glorified for their exploits in the name of enlightenment, in the name of what secular society calls legality, culture, science and education .”

The action will take place on May 6 in the center of Moscow and will include a religious procession with the icon “Tsar to Kings” from the Epiphany Monastery to the Kazan Cathedral and a prayer service, which “may be attended by representatives of different religions and beliefs, subject to compliance with the rules of conduct accepted in the temple.”

On May 3, 2012, Kirill Frolov, head of the Association of Orthodox Experts, told reporters of his intention to suppress this “anti-church action of radical opposition groups.”
