Sergei Gavrilov on the transfer of religious property to the Church, amendments to the Civil Code and the influence of the state on potential sponsors of the Russian Orthodox Church

June 4, 2012 on the air of the Soyuz TV channel Sergei Gavrilov, head of the Duma committee on property issues, expressed their opinion on the transfer of religious property to the Church.

S. Gavrilov I am convinced that all the property that belonged to it before revolution of 1917. Moreover, it must be returned to restored form, and in the event that the building " is of cultural and historical value or [if] unique icons, then they must be transferred together with financial mandates, funds for restoration ."

S. Gavrilov intends to " take control of the privatization buildings "and" through changes in Civil Code [will try] to return to the Church those buildings that were already privatized ."

He noted also that “ the state is obliged through tax influence on potential donors to help the Church gain all property that has been lost in different years .” “ In the fact that the Church will receive income from her property, there is nothing terrible , ”the head of the Duma committee is convinced.
