Activists of the "Other Russia" in Vladivostok sentenced to fines

On June 22, 2012, the Leninsky District Court of Vladivostok recognized activists of the Other Russia movement Igor Popov and Alexander Kurov guilty under Art. 280 (public calls for extremist activity), Part 1, Art. 282 (excitement social hatred) and Part 2 of Art. 282.2 (participation in an extremist organization) Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. They were sentenced to fines: Popov - 150 thousand rubles, Kurov - at 350 thousand rubles.

Recall that Popov and Kurov were accused of membership in banned for extremism by the NBP, as well as inciting hatred towards representatives authorities and law enforcement agencies. In addition, Kurov was also charged with a demonstration slogan "It is the duty of every true man today to enter the sacred war against this state, this bandit power" at a rally in April 2010.

We do not consider it lawful to be prosecuted for the fact of membership in NBP, since the party's ban for extremism was illegal. In addition, representatives of the authorities and law enforcement agencies do not should be considered as a social group in need of special protection anti-extremist legislation.
