Real civil society

The surrender that the police received from demonstrators on May 6 on Bolotnaya Square was a response to unjustified police violence.

I may be denounced by human rights activists around the world and law-abiding civil society activists, but I will argue that the demonstrators' response to police aggression was not adequate - it was disproportionately soft.
The demonstrators acted in a state of necessary self-defense. The actions of the police were criminal. The corrupt Russian justice system has turned everything upside down: the police should be tried, not the demonstrators.

Those arrested in the “May 6 case” are accused of organizing or participating in mass riots.
What kind of unrest is there? If they did exist, then they were organized by the Moscow and federal authorities, and the participants were riot police and the police. They should bear criminal responsibility for the events of May 6 on Bolotnaya Square.

For particularly law-abiding citizens among Russian politicians and social activists, I would like to note that real civil society does not consist of those people who receive grants for public activities, act as intercessors in high-profile cases and are able to make smooth speeches at representative international conferences.
A real civil society consists of people who know how to defend their dignity and not give in to violence, who make independent decisions and know how to be responsible for them, who are guided by the law, and not by laws hastily cobbled together by obedient puppets in the State Duma.

Only with such a civil society does Russia have a future.
