On June 26, 2012 it became known that representatives of the Department of Cultural heritage of Moscow appealed to the prosecutor's office with a request to check the restoration and improvement of the territory of the former estate of the Sumarokovs on Zabelin Street.
The reason for the appeal was the demolition of the historical fence of the estate, the liquidation of the city playground and construction of a new fence.
The building of the estate, an architectural monument of regional significance, was given to lease for a period of 15 years to the Imperial Orthodox Palestinian Society, headed by Sergei Stepashin. Patriarch Kirill is considered the chairman of the committee of honorary members of the society.
The construction work was ordered by the Moscow Department of Construction.
