On July 2, 2012, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Irkutsk Region announced the conviction under Part 1 of Art. 282 (inciting hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity) to a 22-year-old resident of Irkutsk.
The investigation established that a former student of one of the Irkutsk universities distributed xenophobic videos and photographs on her social network page on the Internet. According to the UPC, the videos were "recognized as extremist" by experts from the Research Expert Center for the Study of Extremism at St. Petersburg State University. Another linguistic study was carried out by an expert commission of the Faculty of Philology and Journalism of Irkutsk State University.
A resident of Irkutsk was sentenced to six months of corrective labor.
