A congress of Jehovah's Witnesses was banned in the Chelyabinsk region

July 18, 2012 administration Krasnoarmeysky district of the Chelyabinsk region issued a decree on the ban holding a congress of Jehovah's Witnesses in the village of Petrovsky.

The event was supposed to take place on 20-22 July on the territory of the house number 4a on Severnaya street.

As grounds for refusal and.about. district heads Sergei Yatsenko indicated an information letter from the head of the department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for Krasnoarmeisky district, as well as the results “comprehensive survey of the territory”.

Members of the community intend to achieve the abolition of the decree and, in case of failure, initiation of a criminal case under Art. 148 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (obstruction exercise of the right to freedom of conscience and religion).
