The court extended the arrest of Pussy Riot members until January 12, 2013

On July 20, 2012, the Khamovnichesky Court of Moscow held preliminary hearings in the case under Part 2 of Art. 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (hooliganism, committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy motivated by hatred) in regarding Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, Maria Alyokhina and Ekaterina Samutsevich.

Judge Marina Syrova, who considered the case alone in behind closed doors, agreed with the arguments of the prosecution in favor of extending the arrest and rejected the appeal of artists who offered to take the defendants on bail. The arrest of Pussy Riot members has been extended until January 12, 2013.

The judge also denied a number of defense motions, including exclusion from the case file of the results of a psychological and linguistic examination and conducting a re-examination, calling defense witnesses and proposed side of the expert defense.

The date of the next meeting has been determined - July 23, 2012.
