Protests against the construction of a temple on Khodynsky Boulevard in Moscow

In mid-July 2012, it became known that the activists of the residents’ movement “For the Park on Khodynka” sent a number of letters to the executive authorities demanding to keep park and move the construction of an Orthodox church on Khodynsky Boulevard away from houses and pedestrian zone.

According to local residents, public hearings, which should be discussed the construction of the temple, were not carried out. Many residents disagree with the project erection of a " church of gigantic proportions with a full range of ritual services and cemetery for the departed abbots "in the territory where they were to break a park.

Residents are concerned not only with the reduction of the park area, but also with the fact that that the construction of the temple will complicate the work of four nearby children's gardens and schools. At the same time, they emphasize that this is not a protest against the construction temples as such.

On July 18, 2012, dissatisfied residents opposed holding a prayer service near the temple under construction.
