On August 3, 2012, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation upheld the verdict passed by the Supreme Court of the Republic of Bashkortostan against members of the Islamic Jamaat Danila Gabdulkhakov and Vener Khazetdinov in January 2011.

The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation left the complaints of the convicts and their defense “about violations of the criminal procedural law and the inconsistency of the jury’s verdict” without satisfaction.

Let us recall that D. Gabdulkhakov and V. Khazetdinov were found guilty under Part 2 of Art. 208 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (organization of an illegal armed group or participation in it), Part 1 of Art. 30 and part 3 of Art. 205 (preparation to commit a terrorist act), part 3 of Art. 222 (illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of weapons, their main parts, ammunition, explosives and explosive devices), paragraph “a”, part 4 of art. 158 (theft), art. 317 (attack on the life of a law enforcement officer ), pp. “a”, “b”, “h” part 2 art. 105 (murder), part 3 of Art. 30 etc. “a”, “b”, “h” part 2 art. 105 (attempted murder) and sentenced to 23 years in a maximum security colony.
