August 15, 2012 at Nizhny Novgorod branch of the interregional public organization "Committee Against Torture" was tested by order of the regional prosecutor's office.
According to the deputy director of the organization, representatives of the prosecutor's office, employees of the FSB, police and the Ministry of Justice Russia checked compliance with the law on public organizations and the law on countering extremism. The inspectors requested financial documents, correspondence, grant and project agreements for the last three years.
From our point of view, checking the Committee against Torture for extremism unjustified. The direction of the Committee's activity is well known and has no extremism even remotely related. Such checks are unnecessary and only slow down the work. public organizations.
