The court in Cheboksary left the elders of Jehovah's Witnesses in custody

On August 23 and 24, 2012, the Moskovsky District Court of Cheboksary re- examined the case of choosing a preventive measure for the elders of local religious organizations of Jehovah's Witnesses, Igor Efimov and Alexey Nikolaev, accused of creating an extremist community (parts 1 and 2 of Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and incitement of hatred (clause “c” of Part 2 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), they decided to extend their detention.
