The article “Stop Genocide” is recognized as extremist

In September 2012, it became known that on August 21, 2012 Inzensky District Court of the Ulyanovsk Region recognized as extremist article "Stop Genocide", published in July 2009 in No. 2 newspaper "Our voice".

The court agreed with the prosecutor's office that " the text of the article was used by the author to purposefully convey offensive characteristics, negative emotional assessments and negative attitudes towards representatives of the Russian and Mordovian nationalities, as well as those who profess the Orthodox faith ."

The decision of the court was appealed and did not enter into force.

On September 6, 2012, the editor-in-chief of the newspaper Vasily Bokin addressed the delegates of the World Congress of Finno-Ugric Peoples with a statement, in which he asks them to speak in his defense. “ I believe that the complete disregard of this situation by Congress will a blow to the authority of the world Finno-Ugric movement and will become a silent encouragement further repression ,” the statement said.

As a reminder, the Human Rights Center “Memorial” evaluates persecution of the newspaper "Nash Golos" as unlawful. You also believe that the material is unlawfully recognized as extremist. The author of the article does not call for violence and even claims that it is harmful. However, in our opinion, the newspaper deserves warnings, since the style of the presentation of the terrorist scenario is such that it clearly arouses sympathy for this option.
