On September 12, 2012 in Moscow in the Slavic Legal Center a round table was held on the topic “The Religious Question: Insulting the religious feelings of citizens as a factor in the collapse of the country. The round table was attended by human rights defenders, lawyers, religious figures, journalists. The reason for organizing the event was destruction of the Protestant church in Novokosin.
Bishop Sergei Ryakhovsky noted that the destruction of the temple, carried out at night and accompanied by seizure and damage property (including religious literature) is “ a violation of ethical, moral principles, evidence of negative attitude towards respected confessions of the Russian Federation ”. However, according to him, the Church does not intend to call to the rallies.
According to Inna Zagrebina, “ the problem associated with insulting the religious feelings of citizens must be addressed comprehensively, in including with the involvement of the media .
" Sectarians, in a country where all religions are equal before the law, law enforcement agencies are training and city administrations, how to deal with "sectarians", meaning everything non-Orthodox religious associations , she noted. - In case passivity of evangelical churches, tragedies things like this will happen more and more often .”
Within the round the table discussed issues of vandalism in modern Russia, " incompetent actions of executive authorities in relation to real estate religious associations ”, specific measures were proposed “ for legal counteraction to discredit and offending the evangelical churches of Russia .”
