September 13, 2012 Zelenodolsk City Prosecutor's Office (Republic of Tatarstan) issued a warning about the inadmissibility of the implementation extremist activity to a resident of the village of Bolshie Kulbashi.
According to the prosecutor's office, the "extremism" of the man, a supporter of Salafism, consisted in that he believed that fellow villagers celebrating secular holidays and commemorating dead on the third, seventh, and fortieth days do wrong. Neighbours complained about him to the administration of the Bolshekurguzinsky rural settlement and stated that their religious feelings were thus offended.
We believe that such a translation of an intra-confessional conflict into the plane of "extremism" is unjustified, and the warning was issued incorrectly.
