September 14 2012 in Kazan, near the walls of the Kazan Medical College, a picket of Muslim youth was held, outraged by the position college leadership forbidding girls to wear headscarves and long skirts.
The picket was organized by the Azatlyk union and agreed with the authorities. It adopted participation of eight people.
In an interview with reporters, director College Zukhra Khisamutdinova said that there is no ban on the headscarf in college: " The only a request we made to future headscarf nurses, – that their handkerchiefs be white, and in clinical classes, where necessary observe the sanitary regime, a medical cap would be worn over them. By sanitary and epidemiological standards, a hijab or any other headgear, in who walk on the street, cannot replace a medical cap in the clinic .
College leadership requires Muslim women to go to cropped skirts, but suggests wearing shalwars under the skirts. « When studying clinical disciplines and passing a production practice in medical institutions very long skirts of female students also violate the sanitary and epidemiological regime of hospitals. This is understandable: skirts in which students walk the streets accumulate dust and dirt, which is a hotbed of infection ,” Z. Khisamutdinova recalled.
