A trial has started in Orel in the case of banning the free online encyclopedia of city life

Recall that on July 24, 2012, the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Oryol Region a criminal case was initiated under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (inciting hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity) in fact placement on the site on April 10 and 25, and also on May 16, 2012 of three publications "Mosque", "Aquarium" and "Economy", which, according to the conclusions of the experts, contained " signs of incitement of hostility between groups of people united by national and religious grounds ", as well as " calls for violent action ". The site administration quickly removed these materials, but this did not affect the decision of the prosecutor's office to achieve a ban on the resource entirely.

Increased attention of the authorities to the resource popular in Orel orlec.ru explained by the fact that, positioning itself as a free encyclopedia, he provides the ability to publish anonymously to everyone "ironically" speak out on the subject of the life of the city. Thus, on free texts appear regularly on the site, affecting, in in particular, and the activities of the Oryol administration.

Although it is clear that not all authors "Orlets" are endowed with tact, taste and an original sense of humor, the center "Sova" does not consider this a sufficient reason to close the site for extremism. It would be enough to give the administrators of "Orlets" a warning so that henceforth moderation is carried out more efficiently and xenophobic materials were promptly removed.

On September 26, 2012, it became known that the hearing of the case was postponed to October 1, 2012.
