Runet atheists fear that following the ban on the film “The Innocence of Muslims,” any negative and ironic statements about the heroes of the holy books will be prohibited

September 21, 2012 Atheist Council Runet addressed with official letters to the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation and Tverskoy District Court. Atheists ask prosecutor to withdraw recognition suit extremist material film "Innocence of Muslims", and insist that the court should deny satisfaction of the application of the prosecutor's office.

According to the authors of the statement, “ the recognition of materials as extremist only on the grounds that that they contain unsatisfactory individual believers ideas and evaluations, can completely deprive atheists of the opportunity to have and spread your beliefs .”

" Actions of the prosecutor's office and a possible positive court decision on this claim actually leads to a ban in our country any criticism of the basic provisions of religions and religious practice, since an essential part of such criticism is negative and ironic attitude towards the content and characters of sacred books, and also an expression of doubt about the authenticity of the facts stated there ,” the text says.
