On September 26, 2012, the Irkutsk Regional Court ruled on cassation appeals against the verdict of the Angarsk City Court in the case of assault on camp of environmentalists in the Irkutsk region in July 2007.
The verdict was upheld by four convicts who received real terms of punishment for intentionally inflicting grievous bodily harm, negligently resulting in death (part 4 of article 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Recall that the Angarsk City Court sentenced Stepan Chernykh, Alexei Pushmin and Sergei Strekalovsky to 8 years and 10 months in prison in a strict regime colony, Rostislav Ushakov - to 8 years in a general regime colony.
The rest of the convicts (16 people), who had previously received suspended sentences of 2.5 to 3.6 years, were released from criminal prosecution by the decision of the cassation board of the regional court due to the " expiration of the statute of limitations ".
