On October 4, 2012, the Prosecutor's Office of the Kostroma Region announced that a criminal case had been opened against Andrey K., a 32-year-old resident of Neya, who had beaten a woman on a city street and threatened her with murder motivated by hatred. Unfortunately, it is not entirely clear from the news under which article the case is qualified, probably under Part 2 of Art. 119 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (threat to kill, motivated by national hatred).
As established during the preliminary check, a man armed with a knife attacked a woman on Nei Street, whom he mistook for a "representative of the North Caucasus region." The man beat the "Chechen woman" and threatened her with murder.
