On October 4, 2012, Decree the Government was published RF "On approval of the Rules for granting clergy the right to receive deferment from conscription for military service and the Rules for the passage of clergy special training necessary for the performance of the duties of the position assistant commander (chief) for work with religious servicemen.
According to this document, the deferment applies to the group of 150 ordained clergy of all denominations annually. To obtain benefit, a religious organization must 30 days before the start of the recruitment campaign submit to the government a list of applicants for a deferment. Question about distribution of quotas between religious organizations will be considered by the Commission on Religious Associations government. The list must then be sent to the Ministry of Defense.
The clergy who received the benefit will have to confirm the right to it annually.
