A group of St. Petersburg Orthodox Christians demands compensation for moral damages from Madonna

On October 11, 2012, in the Moskovsky District Court of St. Petersburg, preliminary hearings began on the claim of a group of Orthodox Christians - citizens Kolomitsyn, Gizatulina, Boykov, Kovalev, Mirzaliev, Orlovsky, Kolotkin, Dedova and Yakovleva, demanding compensation for moral damages received as a result of Madonna's concert in August 2012.

The plaintiffs claim that the singer planned in advance to speak out during the concert in support of the LGBT community, therefore, this can be considered an unauthorized rally. In addition, statements in support of sexual minorities were made in the presence of children who attended the concert. And finally, the plaintiffs claim that Madonna trampled on an Orthodox cross during the concert, which offended their feelings.

The plaintiffs demand compensation in the amount of 333 million rubles from the singer, the concert organizers and the owners of the concert hall.
