S. Sobyanin believes that there are enough mosques in Moscow

On October 11, 2012, during a meeting with journalists, the mayor Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin said that Moscow may not need new mosques.

According to him, checking the passports of those who gather near mosques on Olympiyskiy Prospekt showed that among these believers there are a lot of non-Muscovites, and often illegal migrants. If in Moscow mosques only people with a Moscow residence permit went, “such an influx would certainly did not have".

The mayor suggested that new mosques should be built in Moscow region.
