Arkady Mamontov presented the third part of his author's project about Pussy Riot. “Provocateurs-3,” according to the author’s plan, completes the series about the punk prayer service in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior with an answer to the question “who and how wanted to make money from the ungodly action in the temple.”

Traditionally, this question was first addressed to the studio guests. “A gigantic mega-machine, a liberal one, was launched, the wheels and levers of which are, on the one hand, in Russia, on the other hand, they are there - outside our Motherland,” Alexander Prokhanov, editor-in-chief of the newspaper Zavtra, was the first to answer the question. Before the show, only the dean of the Higher School of Television of Moscow State University, Vitaly Tretyakov, managed to agree with him: “This simply overlapped with the previous line (of the opposition - editor’s note) of denouncing Putin’s bloody regime.”

Then, on the screen, the traditional black wet snakes wrapped themselves around the name of the project to ominous music. “The trial of the blasphemers who staged ungodly dances in the main cathedral of Russia has ended,” the text accompanied the shots of Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Ekaterina Samutsevich laughing, already used in previous episodes, and the sullen glance of Maria Alekhina (this time, however, there were no special effects to enhance unpleasant impression from what he saw). - One of them was released on parole. After the introduction, Mamontov moved on to a story about Nadezhda Tolokonnikova’s husband, Pyotr Verzilov, whom he called “the organizer of provocative actions, including in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior.” Accompanied by footage from the documentary “The Deadline,” viewers were informed about Verzilov’s trip to the United States several weeks before the cassation. Particular emphasis was placed on the fact that Verzilov “doesn’t even need a visa” because he is a citizen of Canada (they showed a black and white copy of a Canadian passport, judging by the expired footage). In addition, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova’s Canadian permanent resident card was shown in close-up.

“The essence of Pyotr Verzilov, known in certain circles under the nickname “Petrushka” and “Petya the Pig,” was publicly exposed more than once by members of the left-wing radical group “Voina,” he continued the attack on the art activist by citing “anarchists,” as Mamontov called them. - This is an unprincipled provocateur, obsessed with antics in front of the lenses, persistently posing as an activist of “War”. In fact, for the sake of self-promotion, this pr...p put the women in prison (including his wife on the passport), and gave the investigators evidence on them from his laptop.” This judgment was further confirmed by stories about prizes awarded to Pussy Riot and accepted by Verzilov. In the meantime, the lawyers of the convicted Pussy Riot members Violetta Volkova, Mark Feigin and Nikolai Polozov, who accompanied Verzilov on his trip abroad, appeared in the frame. “The show continues: some sit, others receive bonuses,” summed up Mamontov.

The main thesis of the film was supported by the commentary of producer Joseph Prigozhin, who even said with some regret that “it was not the girls who should have been locked up, but the instigators (Verzilov - editor’s note).”

In addition to Verzilov, lawyers who were criticized for self-promotion and an ineptly chosen defense position, and the leader of the “Left Front” Sergei Udaltsov unexpectedly appeared in the film. However, as it turned out, he is only indirectly related to the case - through his comrade-in-arms and “assistant to oppositionist Chirikova” Nikolai Lyaskin. Next, an audio recording of Lyaskin’s conversation with Konstantin Lebedev was reproduced, who was presented as a participant in negotiations with the Georgian provocateur Givi Targamadze , who “promised to pay for the revolution and organize sabotage.” From Lyaskin’s rather confused conversation with Lebedev, it became clear that visits to Congress are constant, and the “topic” is moving forward.” At this point, Mamontov’s lyrical digression ended, and he returned to Verzilov and the lawyers.

The film ended with the story of the arsonists of the St. George's Naval Cathedral in Baltiysk, Kaliningrad region. Hrant Dzhagaryan (21 years old) and Andrey Klimenko (16 years old) in August of this year painted the inscriptions “Open your eyes” and “throw away faith” on the walls of the temple at night. In “Provocateurs,” young people spoke in church about what they had done and repented of their crime. The viewer was not informed about the fate of their criminal case initiated under the article “Vandalism”.

The discussion of what was seen in the studio by the guests, among whom was State Duma deputy from the United Russia party Irina Yarovaya, producer Joseph Prigozhin and victims’ lawyer Larisa Pavlova, took place in agreement and like-mindedness. Sociologist Olga Kryshtanovskaya told the audience about a content analysis of Twitter, which revealed that 60% of those who support Pussy Riot are bots, while the active opponents of the punk group are real people. And Alexander Prokhanov expanded his thesis about the preparation of a provocation of Pussy Riot by liberals to an elegant metaphor about “a monstrous liberal mollusk that has built a nest in our society.” The only one who showed some obstinacy in assessing the hype around Pussy Riot was the writer Sergei Roganov, who also suspected the church of instigating the scandal.

As required by law, all petitions were discussed during the trial and a lawful and reasoned decision was made on them. The reasons for the decision were given by the court. We remember. The court rightly came to the conclusion that there were no grounds provided for by law and that it was necessary to call and question the experts who carried out the examinations in this case.

The arguments regarding recognition of the examination as inadmissible evidence were verified by the court and reasonably rejected for the reasons set out in the verdict. As for the arguments contained in the cassation appeals of the defense lawyers and the convicted persons that the case was investigated and considered with an accusatory bias, they are also unfounded.
