Administrators of a popular website were searched in Orel

October 18, 2012 in Orel, on behalf of the Investigative Committee of the ICR for Oryol region, searches were carried out at the administrators of the site orlec.ru as part of an investigation into the case of publications on the site, which was initiated in July of this year under Part 1 of Art. 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (inciting hatred or enmity, as well as the humiliation of human dignity). Searches were held at Yevgeny Potapov, Viktor Zyryanov, Roman Molodtsov and Nikita Shchetinin and were accompanied by the seizure of computers.

Recall "Orlets", positioning itself as a free online encyclopedia, provides the ability to publish anonymously to everyone "ironically" speak out on the subject of the life of the city. The criminal case was initiated upon posting on the website on April 10 and 25, and also on May 16, 2012 years of three publications "Mosque", "Aquarium" and "Economy", which, according to the conclusions of experts, contained " signs incitement of hostility between groups of people united by national and religious grounds ", as well as " calls for violent action ."

The prosecutor's office also filed a lawsuit on the ban of the site for extremism. However, at the beginning October, the Soviet District Court of Orel refused ban the site, recognizing as extremist only three materials that served as a pretext for a lawsuit.

Administrators in court "Orlets" pointed out that they consider the incident a provocation law enforcement. Xenophobic materials posted on the site by an anonymous user, were deleted within 5-7 minutes, but during this time representatives law enforcement agencies managed to take screenshots.
