A verdict was passed in Nizhny Novgorod in the case of anti-Semitic calls on the Internet

On November 12, 2012, the Prioksky District Court of Nizhny Novgorod rendered a verdict in the case under Art. 280 part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public calls for extremist activities) against a 27-year-old car mechanic.

Let us recall that in 2011, a man created a publicly accessible page on the Internet, “Last Thoughts on...”, where from June 2011 to February 14, 2012, under the pseudonym “Alexey Rockhard,” he posted texts, images and videos in which experts discovered “ calls for violence against citizens, destruction, murder of people, including citizens of Israel, representatives of the Jewish national group; calls for an armed rebellion, that is, a violent change in the constitutional system of the Russian Federation; calls for the propaganda of human inferiority on the basis of social, nationality (a social group of Russians, a social group of government officials, a Jewish national group); calls for the demonstration of paraphernalia and symbols similar to Nazi paraphernalia and symbols ."

The defendant admitted his guilt in full to the charge, filing a petition for the case to be considered in a special trial procedure (see the SOVA Center’s certificate “Special trial procedure ”).

When imposing a sentence, the court took into account the defendant’s personality characteristics, his confession, and his active contribution to solving the crime.

The court sentenced the man to a fine of 150 thousand rubles.

The verdict did not enter into legal force.
