In Cheboksary, participants in a picket against universal electronic cards blocked traffic

On November 27, 2012, it became known about a picket held in Cheboksary by opponents of the introduction of a universal electronic card. The picket was agreed upon with the city administration, but after the end of the action, which took place near the Church of the Nativity on Republic Square, 130 people headed towards the Government House, blocking the roadway.

After negotiations, Orthodox activists agreed to clear the road, and traffic was restored. Several protesters were allowed into the meeting of the republican government, where at that moment the law on the introduction of the UEC was discussed.

Activist Alevtina Vasilyeva told deputies that there are massive refusals from the UEC in the republic; more than four thousand people have already written corresponding statements.

Law enforcement agencies are considering the issue of bringing Orthodox activists to administrative responsibility under Article 20.18 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (blocking transport communications).

On December 4, it became known that 72 administrative protocols were drawn up against 37 participants in the action - residents of Chuvashia, Mari El and the Nizhny Novgorod region.
