On December 5, 2012, it became known that the prosecutor's office Menzelinsky district of the Republic of Tatarstan issued a warning to the imam of the village of Podgorny Baylar (name not reported) about inadmissibility of violations of the law "On countering extremist activities".
The prosecutor's office also reported " negative trends among the residents of the settlement, caused by the attraction to radical religious movements in the views of the religious leaders of the village ".
According to the district prosecutor, the local population is dissatisfied with the activities imam, in particular, by the fact that on the day of Eid al-Adha, October 26, the mosque was closed. An investigation is underway.
Other details are not reported, however, the translation of the conflict of local residents and the imam into the plane of "extremism" is hardly justified, and the warning to the imam was most likely issued inappropriately.
