Good afternoon
Today I had a key procedure - PET (positron emission tomography) - a method for objectively diagnosing the state of oncological diseases. It happens like this: a beta-radioactive substance is injected into the blood, it accumulates in active cells and begins to emit positrons, which annihilate with electrons, as a result of which gamma quanta fly out, which the equipment registers. Beauty, in a word.
Then I came and paid for this beauty - they don’t give it for free in our country. Yes, and for a fee - a queue for a month in advance, and there are devices in Moscow, St. Petersburg ... and I'm not sure if there is somewhere else. At least from Penza and Orenburg people go to Moscow. But this expensive procedure, paid for by the patient, would not be complete if in the lobby they did not demand to buy shoe covers for ten rubles. At that moment, I wanted to write in detail about medicine in our country and abroad. Believe me, I have something to write. But right now, I'm a little out of it. Because I got the PET results. The results are as follows: destruction of four vertebral bodies - in the neck, sternum, lower back, multiple lesions of peripheral lymph nodes. The picture that the tomography showed turned out to be about 14 times worse than the one I had planned. At such moments, you don’t want to write an article, don’t do work, don’t answer the phone, but just lie under the covers.
But I am writing these lines to you and I will definitely try to have time to write about medicine in our country, and about much more. Because after I drive away stupid thoughts, I remember the Sufi parable about the old man and the shah. The shah was driving and saw an old man who was planting young seedlings in the garden. "You're crazy, old man," the Shah said. You are old, you will not live to see the fruit from these trees. You plant one, which means you don’t have children either. It would be better to rest in old age!” The old man answered him: “How must one hate the past and how afraid of the future, Shah, to talk like that!”
I am proud of my past and look to the future with a smile. Now I will continue to do what I am doing - I will go to the doctors on Monday, they will adjust the treatment regimens. Let's figure out how to strengthen the crumbling spine, how to extinguish fires that were not expected to be seen. And I will act according to plans. In essence, PET did not show anything unusual: it simply confirmed the worst fears. But worst fears are just part of life. Therefore, now I will deal with the problem of transport planning for Togliatti. I still have a lot of work to do, the fruits of which will ripen in 10-20 years.
