21 December 2012 in Irkutsk, a sentence was passed against Stepan Podkorytov, a student of Baikal State University economics and law, and Evgeny Turusov, student Irkutsk State Technical University, who were found guilty under Part 2 of Art. 214 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (vandalism, committed by a group of people, and equally motivated by political, ideological, racial, national or religious hatred or enmity). Young people in July 2012 was painted on the facade of the synagogue and on the fence of the local mosque in Irkutsk swastikas.

The judge of polling station No. 8 of the Pravoberezhny District of Irkutsk sentenced them to 1.8 years of restraint of liberty.
