The UN Children's Fund called on Russia not to prohibit Americans from adopting Russian children. This is stated in an official statement by the head of UNICEF, Anthony Lake.
The so-called anti-Magnitsky law with anti-orphan amendments was approved in the State Duma and the Federation Council . But it was criticized by the public, the Department of Justice and the US State Department. Earlier, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, Education Minister Dmitry Livanov and Open Government Affairs Minister Mikhail Abyzov were against it.
