According to lawyer A. Pchelintsev, the Ministry of Justice’s amendments to the law on freedom of conscience will hit Protestants

On January 18, 2013, lawyer Anatoly Pchelintsev, in an interview with journalists from Nezavisimaya newspapers” commented on the bill of the Ministry of Justice on amendments to Art. 16 Federal Law "On Freedom of Conscience and Religious Associations".

According to A. Pchelintsev, the initiative of the Ministry of Justice is superfluous. « Purpose this amendment - to limit the freedom of conscience for representatives of religious minorities <...> We are talking, of course, about large congresses, which carried out, in particular, by Protestants. Last August, the gospel Baptist Christians held a large congress - several thousand people. Similar conventions are held once a year by Jehovah's Witnesses. It's only them touches - no one else , ”he believes.

At the same time, the lawyer considers it necessary to legally prohibit the commission of sacrifices for Eid al-Adha:

« Required to prescribe in the law in more detail: separately - the rule on compliance sanitary and hygienic standards, separately - on the observance of moral standards, since the spectacle is not pleasant <…>. Today slaughtering sheep in public places is prohibited, but not by law, but by decision municipal authorities - it would be nice it's all set out in the law ."

In this he sees the only "reasonable grain" of the bill proposed Ministry of Justice.
