In Lipetsk, Orthodox Christians protest against “blasphemous” rock opera

On February 6, 2013, about 50 people staged a Lipetsk "prayer standing against the godless musical". Lipchans and residents other cities, headed by the former leader of the regional branch of the national-patriotic front "Memory" Yuri Bernikov protested against the upcoming show in Lipetsk Russian-language version of the rock opera "Jesus Christ Superstar".

Participants of the action held posters: "Let's stop blasphemy!" and "Not offend the feelings of believing Christians.

“Maybe it’s normal for Americans when the Virgin and the apostles dance on the stage, but in our country this is unacceptable. No need denigrate the names of saints in theatrical productions , ”said one of the participants in the“ prayer standing."

According to another participant, such performances are not needed, because "in the gospel of Jesus Christ everything is already written" .

Recall that the Orthodox have already opposed this rock opera in other regions .
