4 February 2013, the Sibay City Court of Bashkortostan decided to changing the measure of restraint for Vadim Khabirov, born in 1978, in relation to which on August 30, 2012 a criminal case was initiated under Part 1 of Art. 282.2 Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (organization of the activities of an extremist organization). He is accused of creation of a Hizb ut-Tahrir cell.
On September 9, 2012, V. Khabirov was detained in Chelyabinsk and he was transferred to Bashkortostan, where he was kept in custody all this time.
Investigative actions on the case are completed, but appointed examination, the results of which should be ready by April or May 2013. The Court, referring to the practice of the European Court of Human Rights not to detain accused of minor crimes, considered that keeping an accused in custody while waiting for an expert examination is not justified, and did not extend the application for detention. V. Khabirov was released.
In 2007 and 2010 he was convicted of collaborating with Hizb ut-Tahrir".
