On February 13, 2013, the prosecutor's office of the Ustinovsky district of Izhevsk announced that it had sent submission to the head of VKontakte LLC Pavel Durov with a demand to take specific measures to eliminate violations of the law on countering extremism.
In the course of a prosecutor's inspection of registered social network user communities in Izhevsk, the prosecutor's office found groups " containing signs of inciting ethnic hatred, racism and extremism ." The check was carried out by entering keywords into the VKontakte search engine.
In one of the communities there is a description of " a meeting held by the coordinators of the group on the territory of Izhevsk in support of ethnic groups in Moscow ." Another community contains visual " extremist materials ". In some groups there are " calls for inciting ethnic hatred, manifestations of extremism, chauvinism, anti-Semitism, intolerance towards African Americans, Hispanics and other racial groups, the priority and predominance of one nation over another ."
Submissions are under the control of the district prosecutor's office.
